If you were involved in a car accident, there are some important steps you should take.
First, call 911 as soon as you are able. Police do not respond to all accidents. If they respond, clearly and calmly tell your side of the story. Ask the officer for the report number and obtain a copy as soon as possible.
Second, use your phone to take pictures of the other person’s, car, insurance information, and license.
Third, if there are witnesses to the accident, talk with them and obtain their contact information.
Fourth, when you get home call your insurance company about the accident.
Fifth, the other driver’s insurance company probably will call you to take your recorded statement. Unless your lawyer is present during that recording I recommend against giving a recorded statement to the other insurance company.
If you were injured in a car accident, I will zealously represent you and work tirelessly to maximize your recovery.
